Happy holidays, readers! I hope you’re doing just what you want tonight. For me that’s being slightly cold with a warm fire and a board game so hopefully that’s true! As I write this, though, I’m taking a look back at 2018. Like a lot of people I have mixed feelings about the events of the year but I’m pretty happy with how things have gone with my blog. I joined the writers at Continuing Mission and have been writing up a storm on both sites, not to mention starting RPGs with my oldest and gaining a second kid!
I wrote a ton of posts that I’m proud of here as well, some of which I’ve listed below in case you need something to read. I’m taking this week off of writing but here’s to new posts in the new year!
Earlier in the month I was out for a little bit. Baby Grue arrived and I took family leave from work and personal leave from this blog. During that period I got quality time with the new arrival but I also had to frequently entertain Little Mephling (Grue’s three-year-old brother) and after many days of trips to various locations I wanted something quiet that we could do at the kitchen table. As always (and unsurprisingly) I thought of RPGs but even No Thank You, Evil! starts with five year olds. Tired and with nothing to lose, I pulled a dirt-simple RPG based on Cthulhu Dark out of my butt and ran with it.
It worked like a charm.

Today was a very exciting day in the James household: Dr. James and I, as well as big brother Little Mephling, welcomed Baby Grue into the world! We’re both exhausted but also really happy and ready to take on this new challenge. Of course, this means I’ll have my hands full for a bit so the site is going on hiatus for the next two weeks. If I get back earlier then so much the better but for the mean time check out the archives and I’ll see you all on the other side.
